The Gift of Memories
" I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all Your wonderful deeds."
Psalm 9:1
I believe memories are a gift. To recall things that have happened in my life, brings so many comforting things to me.
As I grow older, I find I am very sentimental. I am overcome at times with joy and tears as I recall times that have blest my life.
Memories are such a blessing!
Not all memories are good ones. But I do love to think of the good ones more than not. Not so good memories can be good for me too! Learning a lesson from an experience can help me not to do it again.
By and large, memories are quite something. The brain can hold thousands of memories and recall a vast amount. Think of it! God created a persons brain to hold so many memories that it is really amazing to remember ALL of them!
Memories of childhood, a mothers embrace, that first pony ride, a fathers love, the first day of school. That friend you had that sat with you at the lunch table. Recess, and little league.
Memories of your teens, sports that you were involved in, that teacher that made an impact in your life; geometry class, government (ugh) , the songs you sang; you remember all the lyrics even though you maybe haven't heard them for years...
That first date, your mates eyes when they first looked at you, that wedding day, that precious new baby, that first grandbaby. So many things that a person can recall that bring us back to a moment in our lives.
The Lord is good. And remembering all the ways He has touched your life , answered prayers, and helped you in times of need, brings more faith for today.
God has thought of everything.
Everything!
And memory is one of His greatest gifts.
